Teri Hatcher Wins Her Battle With The Paparazzi

Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher is convinced a guest editing stint for British magazine Glamour has turned the paparazzi against her. But the actress isn’t complaining – she’s delighted she can shop in peace at last. For her stint as a journalist, Hatcher decided it would be fun to photograph the snappers who follow her and daughter Emerson everywhere – in a bid to show fans that she’s always hounded. She explains, “We’d pull up at an ATM machine or something and they all (paparazzi) surround us in cars and start shooting us and I hand her (Emerson) the camera and she just starts walking towards the cars and she’s just shooting. Since this article came out they have really laid off. I don’t know if it’s because of that or if it’s just I’m simply not hot anymore.” As well as turning the paparazzi off her, Hatcher is convinced the article was very important for her pre-teen daughter. She adds, “It was very empowering for her.”

The not-so-desperate Teri Hatcher still loves her day job

The not-so-desperate Teri Hatcher still loves her day job ‘I’m calling you from Wisteria Lane,” whispers Teri Hatcher. “We’re on a break.” The “Desperate Housewives” star sounds a little harried when asked about the season finale of the ABC series. “Here is what I can tell you about the finale: nothing. Everyone is standing all around me. Do you want to get me in trouble?” Well, we don’t want to get her kicked off … but reportedly her character Susan has a hasty wedding to Mike during the finale. Just don’t say Teri told you.1 Poor Teri, life must be rough having had to choose between two hot guys this season. It’s actually very tough. There are two handsome guys in Susan’s life, but no one really wants to know how it turns out until it’s on the air. Why ruin the surprise?2 Tell us about your summer film “Resurrecting the Champ.”I play a executive from an ESPN type of show. The director basically called me and said, “Teri, I have this great four-page scene with Josh Hartnett for you. You can shoot it in a day, which fit perfectly into my schedule. My priority is being a mom during any time off from the series, so I really haven’t been able to make time to do many movies. But this film was a great way to step out of Susan for a bit and just shoot a film from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Then I was finished.3 Is this ESPN honcho as loony as Susan? No, she’s definitely full of much more confidence than Susan or me. She’s a casting person for a sports network. Her scene is about getting Josh to be the hot new boxing commentator. I did like that she represents the idea that there’s still truth in journalism and not just cynicism. The film really doesn’t pull any punches. I sort of set Josh off on a journey of what he wants to do with his life.4 Are you content with staying on Wisteria Lane or do you want to branch out?Honestly, I love my day job. I still think filming the series is fun and inspiring. I never can guess where they’re going with the scripts and what they will have Susan doing next season. That’s part of it the joy of it.5 What are your plans for summer? I’ve read you’re doing everything from getting married to just taking a nap.Not talking about my personal life. I am looking forward to catching some summer films like “Shrek the Third.” I’ll be running with my daughter to go see “Nancy Drew.” Summer is really about my daughter. I’ve been pretty vocal about making parenting the priority in my life. So I’m on hiatus from Wisteria Lane until the middle of July. I could shove another movie into that time, but I’d be working every single day. I don’t want to sacrifice that time with my daughter. There is such little time in life to be together with the people you love with no obligations weighing you down.
